Back in 2011 I was a stay-at-home mum taking care of two small boys. My world had been narrowed down to changing nappies, going to the playground and making sure that these precious new beings do not become tangled up in the curtains or fall down the stairs…
Of course, there were plenty of wonderful moments but it had come to a point where my inner being started to feel ‘stuck’. I was living far away from my family and I was dealing with motherhood without much help. Meanwhile my creativity was knocking at the door louder and louder.
It just so happened that one day I read an article about a collective of artists selling their art online and something inside me told me that I have do the same. To cut a long story short I opened my first online shop on Etsy and started showing my work on social media. On reflection, I can see now that it was a process of becoming who I am today, which I was totally unaware of at the time.
My work often reflects how I feel – some pieces such as Marionettes, Self-Limitation and Expat’s Life are a good example of how I felt at the time of painting them.
These paintings ‘happened’ unplanned; I started doodling without any goal and the result was totally unexpected - it was something which jumped out of me.
You cannot escape your inner voice – unless you listen to it will haunt you!
I look forward to sharing my journey with you in future posts - see you soon!
